چکیده

The removal of methylene blue (MB) dye from water was investigated using synthetic nano-clay magadiite (SNCM). SNCM was synthesized by a hydrothermal treatment under autogenous pressure. A rosette-shaped single mesoporous magadiite phase with 16.63 nm average crystallite size and 33 m²∙g-1 Braunauer-Emmet-Teller (BET)-surface area was recorded. The adsorption results indicated the pronounced affinity of the SNCM to the MB dye molecules, which reached an adsorption uptake of 20.0 mg MB dye/g of SNCM. The elimination of MB dye by the SNCM was kinetically and thermodynamically considered; a pseudo-second-order kinetic model was attained, and its spontaneous, chemical, and endothermic nature was verified. SNCM was shown to be robust without a detectable reduction in the adsorption capacity after up to four times re-use.

Removal of Methylene Blue from Water by Polyacrylonitrile Co Sodium Methallylsulfonate Copolymer (AN69) and Polysulfone (PSf) Synthetic Membranes

Polyacrylonitrile-co-sodium methallylsulfonate copolymer (AN69) and polysulfone (PSf) synthetic membranes were prepared and used for the removal of methylene blue (MB) from water. Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Ionic exchange capacity (IEC), and Swelling ratio (Sr) were employed to determine the membrane characteristics. pH, membrane composition and initial dye concentration were used for t...

Methylene blue removal from aqueous solutions by electrocoagulation in continuous flow reactor: Modeling and optimization of operating parameters

Introduction The application and increasingly produce of colorants, particularly, synthetic dyes, are one of the main environmental and health concerns especially in industrialized countries. If this type of dyes is discharged into the environment without any control, many problems will arise. Therefore, it is necessary to remove the dyes from aqueous solutions using appropriate methods. The p...

Removal of methylene blue dye by application of polyaniline nano composite from aqueous solutions

This paper deals with application of polyaniline coated on wood sawdust for removal ofmethylene blue (MB) dye from aqueous solutions. Polyaniline coated onto sawdust (termedas PAn/SD) was prepared via direct chemical polymerization onto sawdust which waspreviously soaked in the monomer (aniline) solution in acidic (HC1) media. Adsorptionexperiments were carried out using batch system. The effec...

In-situ generation of gold nanoparticles on MnO2 nanosheets for the enhanced oxidative degradation of basic dye (Methylene Blue).

In this work, the gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) were in-situ generated on the surface of MnO2 nanosheets to form MnO2/Au-NPs nanocomposite in a simple and cost-effective way. Multiple experiments were carried out to optimize the oxidation of basic dye (Methylene Blue (MB)), including the molar ratio of MnO2 to chloroauric acid (HAuCl4), the pH of the solution and the effect of initial material. U...

Electerocoagulation of Blue and Mixed Azo Dyes and Application in Treating Simulated Textile Effluent

This study investigated the efficiency of electerocoagulation (EC) in removing color from synthetic and simulated textile wastewater. The study on decolorization of mixed dyes is a step toward an effective treatment of textile wastewater. Two representative reactive dye molecules were selected for the synthetic dye wastewater, a blue dye alone and mixed dye (black, blue, red, 1:1:1v/v). The EC ...
